ABOUT THE PUBLICATION

Roll Call Africa is Africa’s film and television trade publication. Launched in 2026, we are the continent’s first editorial platform dedicated exclusively to the business, culture, and craft of African screen industries — covering film, television, streaming, box office, distribution, festivals, and the talent behind all of it from a genuinely pan-African perspective.

We cover all 54 African territories. Our correspondents are based in Lagos, Dakar, Johannesburg, Nairobi, and Cairo. We publish in English with a commitment to covering Francophone, Arabophone, and Portuguese-speaking African screen industries with the same depth we bring to English-language markets.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

Roll Call Africa is the first African trade publication to treat the continent’s screen industries as a single connected subject rather than a collection of national industries with occasional overlap. We cover Nigerian theatrical releases and Egyptian Ramadan serials in the same publication, under the same editorial standards, as part of the same continental story.

We are independent. We are not owned by a broadcaster, a streaming platform, a production company, or a government cultural institution. Our editorial positions are our own.

We are rigorous. We do not publish fiction as fact. We do not speculate without labelling speculation. We correct errors promptly and transparently.
